We’ve now had what we hope is the last big snowstorm of the season – 13 inches on March 24th.
This is the time of year when the days are a mix of winter and spring.
Great Plains Lady’s Tresses grows on our dry bluff prairies. The plants have basal leaves which come out in early summer, but wither by the time flowering starts in early fall. It’s raining! It’s so nice to hear rain on the roof. The last of the snow – we hope – disappeared just a few days ago. The winter birds are heading back north, and the spring birds are arriving.
It’s still winter here, but it’s nice to see the days start to get longer. A few weeks ago it was already dark by 5 pm – now we have about half an hour more of daylight.
We spent the last few weeks of good weather finishing up two savanna clearing projects.
