Spiranthes magnicamporum – Great Plains Lady’s Tresses

Great Plains Lady’s Tresses grows on our dry bluff prairies.  The plants have basal leaves which come out in early summer, but wither by the time flowering starts in early fall.  The flowers have a wonderful scent – it smells to me like Lily of the Valley, or vanilla.
