Another rainy weekend – Jackie says we’ve gotten over 10 inches of rain this month. We may beat her record – 12 inches in July of 1999.
It stopped raining for a while today, and I planted seedlings, and took a walk out to the wetland looking for Marsh Marigold seeds – they need another week or so to ripen. Now it’s raining hard again.

There’s lots of Phlox blooming in the Cats Paw Prairie, and around the house – it’s the first year any Phlox has bloomed, although I’ve planted it in all the prairies.

There’s also some Lupine blooming around the house and in the septic system field.

I found a big patch of Yellow Pimpernel growing at the far end of Goldenrod Valley – in a corner where there are lots of other remnant prairie plants.

And the Yellow Star-grass is blooming in Star-grass Opening – much more than there was last year – there are yellow stars everywhere.

There are lots of mushrooms in the woods these days, and the lichens and the moss are happy too.

Last Wednesday the craft group came down to the farm – a great field trip. We had 9 people – 3 cars. We ate lunch on the porch, and took two nice walks.
