Buffalo Ridge Prairie – 2023

[To see photos and stories of this prairie in other years, go to the links on the main Buffalo Ridge Prairie page.]

We didn’t do any mowing here this spring – heavy snow over the winter had flattened most of the grasses so there was nothing to mow.  I cut and treated some of the aspen (Milestone + bark oil) that’s invading along the edges of the prairie, mostly at the south western end.

We’re seeing more Prairie Smoke, Prairie Phlox, and Butterflyweed here every year.
