We did almost no mowing or other maintenance on Western Prairie this year. The only thing we did was to mow one small section just west of the path down to Volvo Meadow – in early March. It’s an area that seems too ‘grassy’ – too dominated by Big Bluestem. After Mike mowed it, I planted seeds in the western half of the mowed area. We’ll watch over the next few years and see if there’s any change.
