3 Finger Valley 2011

I’m not sure why I have so few photos from this year.  It may be that they’re just misplaced.  If I find more, I’ll put them in – it would be nice to have more documentation of what this year looked like.

8/14/2011   Wild Golden Glow has really started taking over under the walnut trees.  It’s a great improvement over a monoculture of Giant Ragweed.   There’s still some ragweed, but there’s a lot more diversity now.

 

Field Thistle in the wet area that was replanted in 2006.  These thistles are doing fine!  They’re about 12 feet tall, and they attract lots of butterflies.  (They’re native thistles – not nearly as aggressive as Canada Thistle, which is the common weedy thistle.)
