More spring flowers in bloom – April 19, 2005

This week I found lots of flowers in bloom – some when I walked with the craft group folks, but even more later, after we had some rain and some more hot weather.
There was a huge gorgeous patch of Bird’s-foot Violets (Viola pedata) on Sumac Prairie

some Rock Cress (Arabis lyrata)

and one blooming Blue-eyed Grass (Sysinchrium campestris).

We found several patches of blooming Wild Strawberry (Fragaria virginiana) below some rocks on Sumac Point.

The Serviceberry is blooming too – I don’t know if we missed it when the craft folks were there, or if it came out all of a sudden after the hot weather.

The Pussy-toes (Antennaria neglecta) is blooming and coming up everywhere. The area we cleared on Hidden Oaks Point has big patches of Pussy-toes

and there are Wild Strawberries, Monarda, and Yarrow coming up too.

Rue Anemone (Anemonella thalictroides) is just beginning to bloom in the woods.
