First Moth and Butterfly of the year – March 16, 2009

It was 65 degrees today – a good day to bring out those early ‘leps’.  (‘Leps’ is short for Lepidoptera – moths and butterflies.)

This was my first moth – The Infant.  It’s a small day-flying moth that we always see in the early spring.

And the first butterfly was an Eastern Comma – soaking up the sun on a patch of snow.
