This week we had one wonderful spring day – 50 degrees and water was running everywhere! The creek was overflowing, and all our intermittent streams were full. And the ground was still frozen, so it was pretty easy to walk in the fields.
Here’s the creek – about 3 times as wide as usual.

3 Finger Valley has a nice wide stream that flows through it. I’m hoping to plant some wet prairie seeds in the lower wet areas, but I’ll have to wait until the melting is completely over or they’ll all be washed away.

Even the woods along the edge of 3 Finger Valley has a stream and some waterfalls.

It’s nice to see that the water in all the streams is very clear, so the soil from our prairies isn’t washing away. And the creek seems to be clearing itself out – the sediment from the old beaver dam has moved and several places are washed clean down to the gravel.
