A short weekend – on Monday I head down to the North American Prairie Conference in Madison. But I found a new cool plant, and heard lots of Screech Owls.
The new plant is another Polygala – in almost the same place as the last one I found. It’s growing on the edge of the cliff above the house, right in the scariest place to take a photo. I saw it as I was weeding the Queen Anne’s Lace along the cliff edge. It’s Polygala sanguinea, Purple Milkwort.

I also found another small prairie plant – very obscure – with tiny flowers that don’t really open. It’s called Prairie Pinweed.
