Caterpillar foods: Grape and Virginia Creeper (Wagner)
This species is very similar to Eulithis diversiliniata – the adults look nearly identical. Bugguide says the only way to tell them apart is by dissection or rearing. (Bugguide) Seabrooke Leckie came up with descriptions that can help separate them: E. gracilineata has darker brown FW lines, purplish gray shading in terminal area, and a dark shaded area at the anal angle of the hindwing basally bounded by a dark line.
And the caterpillars look different – according to David Wagner: “Eulithis gracilineata is a brownish twig mimic with darkly pigmented lateral swelling on T2”.
