Maple Ridge – 2023

[To see photos and stories about Maple Ridge in other years go to the links on the main Maple Ridge page.]

Again this year we didn’t spend much time here.  I treated Garlic Mustard, but that was the only time I walked here or did any work.  The woods is in good shape, and except for some honeysuckle and a few buckthorns it doesn’t need much tending.

There are still a few plants that grow here that we haven’t seen on the rest of our property.  This one is Mountain Honeysuckle – a native honeysuckle vine that grows along the edge of the woods near the road.

This is a plant that I’ve found in a few places – here on Maple Ridge and also other places in the woods.  It’s called Jumpseed.  So far I haven’t found any of the flowers which are tiny and arranged along long stalks that stick up from the main stem.  The markings on the leaves are distinctive.
