Twisted Oak Savanna – 2023

[To see photos and stories of the savanna in other years, see the links on the main Twisted Oak Savanna page.]

This year we did our usual spring mowing, and in August I pulled Queen Anne’s Lace.  I also did a little work cutting and treating returning brush in the main part of the savanna along the path.  We had so little snow late in the fall that I worked a bit clearing the western edge of Ragwort Opening – cutting and treating honeysuckle, buckthorn, and prickly ash to expand the opening down the slope to the west.

I scattered seeds of savanna plants: Elm-leaved Goldenrod, Zig Zag Goldenrod, Big Leaved Aster, Downy Phlox.
