Arrenodes minutus – Oak Timberworm

Females drill one hole for each egg in living trees where the sapwood has been exposed from an injury.  Males guard egg-laying females.  Larvae take 2-3 years to develop.  Pests on oak, elm, beech, aspen and poplar.  Have also been found on boxelder and honeylocust.  Spread the fungus Bretziella fagacearum which causes oak wilt.  (iNaturalist)
