Caterpillar foods: maple, birch, cherry, oak, chestnut (Bugguide)
Tortricidia pallida is very similar to Tortricidia flexuosa – in appearance, DNA and genitalia. It may be that they are the same species. (Bugguide and Moth Photographers Group) Until this gets sorted out, Bugguide and MPG divide them by slight differences in the appearance of the larvae and the adult wing patterns.
Tortricidia pallida: faintly patterned wings of a pinkish tan; larvae with lateral arms of the red dorsal mark extending down the sides of the body
Tortricidia flexuosa: Yellowish more strongly patterned wings; red dorsal mark on larva not extending down as far on sides of body
