Caterpillar foods:  alder, apple, ash, aspen, birch, elm, maple, oak and many other trees  (Bugguide)

I had originally wondered if this was P. canadana, and was struggling to tell the difference between these two species.  The U of Alberta Entomology Collection states that P. canadana is probably just a darker form of P. limitata.
