Azures are a complicated group of butterflies: closely related, with similar markings, and overlapping flight times. There’s great debate among scientists about how many species there are, and how they should be differentiated. Here’s the page on Bugguide which describes some of the issues.
Summer Azures are similar to Spring Azures, and closely related. Summer Azures fly later in the summer – from July until early September. They are lighter gray under their wings, with smaller spots.
