Caterpillar foods: mostly tree and shrub Roseaceae including roses, cherry, plum, serviceberry and hawthorn (Bugguide and NABA – Tennessee Valley Chapter)
I don’t see this hairstreak often, so it’s a treat to find one. The first time I saw one was the very first butterfly count that Mike Reese and I did at the farm on July 7, 2004. It was a cool rainy day, and we only saw one butterfly – this was it.
