Family Geometridae Hodges # 7058
Caterpillar foods: many plants – often composite flowers but also many other flowering plants, shrubs and trees (Bugguide)
The caterpillars decorate their bodies with pieces of plants – usually flower petals – for camouflage. I found one of the caterpillars on some White Snakeroot (Eupatorium rugosum) next to our front door. The caterpillars are very small – about 1/4″ long.
