Virbia aurantiaca – Orange Holomelina

Family Erebidae    Hodges # 8121

These tiny bright orange moths are common in our remnant prairies.  (Their genus name changed recently – from Holomelina to Virbia.)  There are several species that have orange forewings, and can only be told apart by their hindwings – and  I don’t often seen their hindwings – so we may have more than one species.
