Morus alba – White Mulberry

Native to China, it was introduced to the US to feed silkworms – an attempt to start a silk industry here. (Minnesota Wildflowers)

The only one I’ve found here was a male, so it didn’t spread. We cut it down in 2025 and treated the stump with herbicide.
