Volvo Meadow – 2021

The only projects we did here were spraying Garlic Mustard in the spring – in the brushy woods along the edge of the meadow, and mowing some Reed Canary Grass that’s spreading in the lowest part of the meadow.

The most exciting find was a Bell’s Vireo singing in the brush along the western side of the meadow.  When I first heard the song, I wasn’t sure what it was, and I played a few songs on my phone to see if I could figure it out.  When I got to the Bell’s Vireo song, that sounded right, and then the bird flew over my head and into one of the trees right next to me.  We continued to hear it for a few weeks from mid to late August.
