This year Mike did his usual mowing of the savanna area in the spring. I did a little cutting and treating of buckthorn and other brush near the entrance to the savanna from the Narrows Prairie. And I spent several days pulling Queen Anne’s Lace from the prairie remnant and the recovering savanna around it.
Many of the dead trees – mostly ones I girdled many years ago – are starting to fall, so Mike spent several mornings picking up the fallen trees – moving them to our big brush piles – and cutting and treating invading buckthorns.
