Mike mowed the savanna area in early spring. The area that’s open and sunny has become much larger after all our clearing work, and has many species of asters, but also lots of Queen Anne’s Lace. I pulled and removed as much QAL as I could, but I couldn’t get it all – it’s still a problem especially on the east side of the path. I also treated as many of the circles of Reed-canary Grass as I could find, but there are still a few left – one small one west of the path, and one large one next to and under the log pile east of the path.
