This is a plant that grows in our county, but I’d never found it on our land. It’s unusual, and generally grows on dry, sunny prairie hillsides.
A friend who raises native plants from seed gave me seedlings for several years – in 2018 and 2019. One already had a flower when I planted it.
5/30/2019 This is one of the seedlings I planted in 2019 – just about ready to bloom.
6/14/2019 And it bloomed
I also purchased Wood Lily seeds in the fall of 2015, and planted them around the house, and on the hill behind the house. I stuck them into the top layer of soil in November. This one bloomed in July 2019.
This is the same flower, taken at night with a flash.
