Here’s the edge of Buffalo Ridge that adjoins Volvo Meadow. You can see lots of old cornstalks – they take a long time to decompose, which is one of the things that makes planting after a corn crop a problem.

The field has been planted with soybeans, but the plants are too small to show up in the photo.
