This is Western Prairie as a soybean field in the summer of 2000, looking south.

To the left of the tree you can see an area that was cropped at one time, but has grown up into old-field vegetation with a few prairie plants – Field Brome, Canada Goldenrod, Prickly Ash, Giant St. John’s Wort, and Canada Tick-trefoil.

This is a little farther north along the old fence line, still with the old-field on the left.
