Oegoconia novimundi/deauratella

Caterpillar foods:  probably leaf litter

These two species are visually very similar and require dissection or DNA testing to be sure of the ID.   Ranges of the two species may be different – BOLD shows O. deauratella in the northeast US, and O. novimundi mostly on the west coast.   Both were introduced into the US – O. novimundi over a century ago, and O. deauratella more recently.    (Bugguide)   (Bugguide)
