Pine Point Prairie – 2016

[To see photos and stories of this prairie in other years, go to the links on the main Pine Point Prairie page.]

I worked on pulling or treating several invaders this year – Common St. John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum),  Bird’s Foot Trefoil (Lotus corniculatus) and Wild Parsnip (Pastinaca sativa).  Wild Parsnip is along the bottom, in the wettest part of the prairie, and its numbers are decreasing every year.  The other two are still big problems – I’m not sure I’m making much progress.  Mike also mowed a few areas for Canada Thistle (Cirsium arvense)
