Caterpillar foods: mainly soybeans, but also other plants in the Fabaceae including peanut, kudzu, velvetbean, horse bean, cowpea, coffeeweed, black locust, hairy indigo, lespedeza, sesbania, white sweetclover; also cotton  (Bugguide)

The caterpillar is a pest on soybeans in Florida and other southeastern states.  It spends the winter at the southern tip of Florida, and migrates north during the summer.
