Caterpillar foods: Timothy (Phleum pratense), Dactylis glomerata and Agropyron repens, and possibly other grasses. (Butterflies of Canada)
This species was accidentally introduced to North America in Ontario in about 1910. Since then it has spread, probably in shipments of hay, to much of the U.S. and Canada. The caterpillar is sometimes considered a pest on Timothy hay. (BAMONA)
