Caterpillar foods: perennial grasses including Little Bluestem (Bugguide; BAMONA)
This is a late flying skipper; it seems to prefer nectaring on purple flowers especially Liatris, but also Verbena and Thistle.
These used to be fairly common in one of our remnant prairies, but the last one I saw there was in 2011. They’ve completely disappeared – I haven’t seen any since then.
