2008 Butterfly Count – July 24, 2008

Three of us did the count this year – Mike Reese, Dave Hanson, and me – on July 24th. It was a good day – very sunny, but not as hot and muggy as it has been in the past.

Here’s Dave with a newly hatched Monarch that he found in the wetland.

We returned the Monarch to a milkweed plant so it could finish drying its wings.

A Tawny Emperor landed on Mike Reese.

We saw a Crossline Skipper – a new butterfly for the farm and for Mike’s records for Buffalo County.
