Caterpillar foods: primarily birch and willow, but also basswood, beech, hophornbeam, poplar, red maple, spruce, vine maple, white oak (Bugguide)
This species is very similar to Zale lunata, but it’s smaller, and the bump in the PM line has a double bump in lunata, and is smooth, with no double bump in minerea. (Need to look at the inner of the 3 thin lines – sometimes the outer lines have extra bumps.)
