Caterpillar foods: dandelion in the lab (Wagner), Dock (Handfield), unknown in the wild (Wagner); Janice Stiefel says, about the larva she reared: “Larva eating Water Hemlock (Cicuta maculata). While I reared it, it went into the host plant watering container several times and appeared to drown each time. When I hauled it out, it revived. I’m thinking that possibly it would pupate in the water in the wild.” (Bugguide)
