Goodyera pubescens – Downy Rattlesnake-plantain

Downy Rattlesnake-plantain is one of the more common orchids we have here.  I’ve found it growing in north-facing woods, and also in overgrown, south-facing savannas.

Its leaves are evergreen, and it blooms in mid to late summer.

11/13/2015  This patch is on a south-facing savanna hillside that we were clearing of brush.  It will be interesting to see what happens to it once it starts to get more sun.
